Hey everyone! This blog is just intended for practice in our EDM 510 class!
The first days of school can be exciting! However, they can also be stressful (and tiring) as you establish routines, rules, etc. What are some of your favorite things to do the first few days of school? Also, what are things that you cannot forget to do? If you don't have your own classroom yet, what activities do you think you will do?
Melanie,
ReplyDeleteI am not a teacher yet, so I have never experienced this. However, I think when I finally do have my own classroom, on the first day I will be going over my classroom rules and procedures. I think it is so important that students are aware of what I expect of them in regards to their behavior on the very first day. I also want to tell students about who I am and I want the students to get to know each other. I think it is important that students get to know me and who I am so they will feel comfortable with me and come to me if they need help. I remember teachers I had in the past who were not very personable and I was afraid to ask them for help.
I definitely agree that it is important to talk about yourself! Students need to feel like they know the teacher and they will open up more! Great ideas!
DeleteI don't have my own classroom yet, but I am so excited for my first day of school! I think establishing rules and procedures is definitely something that needs to be done the first few days of school. I also hope to introduce myself and also let the students get to know each other. I hope to give the students the opportunity to share some things about themselves so we can all learn a few new things about each other.

DeleteI am not a teacher yet, but I have always dreamed of my first day as a teacher and what my plans were for my classroom. I know I would have everyone's name on their desk so their would be no confusion about where everyone would be sitting. Also, I would play some fun "get to know me" games because it is always fun to share information about you. I think kids are always shy their first day and scared to branch out so I would do some team building exercises to get the students working together and really getting to know one another. I am excited to finally have my first day and be able to perform these activities with my students.
DeleteAwesome ideas!
